Original Story Here.

Flyin Brian

From left to right:  Mrs. Geezer, Brian, Stephanie his Fiance, Jennifer his adopted sister.

Brian says:

Hello everyone, and thanks for all your prayers and kind words of support.  It meant a lot to me and my family.

I’m feeling a little better now.  Sure, I look like crap, but I’m actually trying to smile here.  Cut me some slack.  If you want pretty, go hit the Jessica Alba pic at the “Bless You, Louis Réard” post.

(Thanks a lot, Dad, for taking the shot when my eyes were closed.  Sheesh.  I’m not in a coma, for Pete’s sake.  You could have let me know you were about to take a picture.)

I’m curious about something.  Do you think I look good with a moustache?  I’m thinking about keeping it.  Let me know what you think.

No, Wickedpinto, I am not going to give you the phone number of any of the cute chicks in this picture.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Picture provided courtesy of Retired Geezer.

Brian’s remarks provided courtesy of Site Administration.  Meaning, I made it up, but I’m sure Brian wanted to say something like that.

Is he making the water bottle levitate?

That’s pretty impressive, considering how he must be feeling right now.

Speedy recovery Brian.

Glad the dude is doing ok.

Did yall sneak him some decent food for Turkey Day?

3. A-A - November 23, 2006

13. BrewFan - November 23, 2006

This is what I call Thanksgiving! Take good care of him Mr. & Mrs. Geezer.

14. Levitating Larry - November 23, 2006

How the heck is he doing that floating water bottle thing?!

Puhleeeze! Brian ain’t doing shit. That’s me floating the water bottle. Brian is zonked out on his pain meds. Give me some credit.

While Brian is zonked out, I just want to mention that Stephanie is hot! ROWR!!!

15. wiserbud - November 23, 2006

Get well soon, Brian! The world needs more like you!

And if you plan to give up flying, that levitating water bottle trick should get you a permanent gig in any Las Vegas casino. At least as an opening act.

16. Dave in Texas - November 23, 2006

All right all right all right all right,

GO Brian. You’re a hero to all of us. We IB wimmins think you’re smokin hot.

Ditto

20. Michael - November 23, 2006

Ditto

Let the record show that Dave has made a judicial admission that he is one of the IB wimmins.

21. harrison - November 23, 2006

Dave is a girl!
Dave is a girl!
Dave is a girl!

22. Muslihoon - November 23, 2006

Get well soon! Thanks for the picture, RG; thanks for the captioning, Michael!

God bless him and his.

23. geoff - November 24, 2006

Recover quickly Brian - this is a mean crowd.

24. Wickedpinto - November 24, 2006

Criminy, Just noticed.

Flyin brian in the non injured pictures looks like an all american who can take on the world.

In the injured pic, he looks like “morris”/”Malarky” from “ER”/”BoB”

Does he have red hair, or is that just the lighting making amber brown look red?

25. Dave in Texas - November 24, 2006

Oh I didn’t write that.

He is cute though.

26. Mr Minority - November 24, 2006

Full speed ahead on the healing process Brian. And don’t worry Geezer, he’s young, they heal faster that old farts like you and me.

We IB wimmins think you’re smokin hot.

Dave,
I didn’t know Dave was a girl’s name. I always thought you were a guy. Now don’t take offense, but based on your Faces of Aces picture, you are one butt ugly woman, and shave that mustache if you want to pick up a husband.

27. Russ from Winterset - November 24, 2006

Great to see you recuperating, Brian. Hope the rehab goes well.

Look on the bright side. You only rode a falling helicopter down out of the sky into the water, where you had to be rescued from drowning. It could be worse. Those injuries are nothing compared to what a person could get by refusing to stop constantly talking about football to LauraW while her gardening shows are on TV.

(seriously, get well soon and get back to doing the Lord’s Work. The world needs more guys like you.)

28. Michael - November 24, 2006

OK then, Dave is officially an IB Babe. But somebody else has to flirt with him. I ain’t gonna do it.

29. Dave in Texas - November 24, 2006

You mean you ain’t gonna do it any more.

30. The Comish (sic) - November 24, 2006

Brian,

It seems like you’ve made a pretty incredible effort just to get out of doing the Thanksgiving dishes, but I commend you on your success in that effort.

Seriously, I realize this is the day after Thanksgiving, but I’m very thankful that you’re ok. And I’m also thankful that there are brave folks like you who risk their lives to save schmos like me. My dad was a pilot in Vietnam, and he still tells stories with awe about the brave helicopter pilots who flew threw unimaginable risks to save downed pilots, and you’re exactly that kind of breed. You’re the type of guy that we should all be.

On the other hand, I’m a little upset that there are guys like you because it makes it more difficult for guys like me to pick up on the hot, single women. They’re never going to put up with my stammering and flop sweat as long as they can compare me to good looking heroes like you.

And I like the mustache. It’s like a younger, more all-american Magnum PI.

Get well. And please keep us updated on your recovery. I’ll continue to pray for you and yours.

31. Retired Geezer - November 24, 2006

Thanks again y’all. Brian gots his own Private room now.
Who does he think he is anyway?

I think he had to move because there was no room for all the flowers in the other room.

I lost count of all the flower arrangements. He even got a bouquet from the girls at Shivers and Jitters, drive thru coffee shop.

The waitresses at JB’s restaurant called too.

The radio station in Louisiana, where he worked the traffic watch called and announced it on the air.

Seriously, who *is* this guy?

Anyway, he’s in room 601 now for all you Flyin’ Brian groupies.

32. Tim Viehweg - November 24, 2006

Hey Brian, you look a little rough. All in Idaho are glad to see you doing OK and are thinking about you. Hope to talk with you soon!

33. Bart - November 24, 2006

Geez, good to see the boy recuperating.

Hey, I have an idea. Get the lad a videogame system.
Maybe, um, a Nintendo Wii, maybe.

34. Retired Geezer - November 24, 2006

Thanks Tim for checking in. I print out the comments and show it to him every day.

(Tim hired Brian to fly his helicopter from Redding California to Boise. They even landed in the field about 50 yards from our house)

Get the lad a videogame system.
Maybe, um, a Nintendo Wii, maybe.

Good idea Bart. We could strap it on his leg and he could do physical therapy at the same time!

Does Wii have a Tennis game? That ought to get his leg a-swinging.

35. Loren Thompson - November 24, 2006

42. randy lewis - November 28, 2006

get well buddy

43. randy lewis - November 28, 2006

Get well buddy !!

44. Michael - November 28, 2006

I guess randy meant it the second time.

45. Retired Geezer - November 28, 2006

Randy Lewis has been friends with Brian for about 28 years.

Mark Geenen flew with Brian. I guess he’s hauling Xmas trees out of the woods with a long line tied under his helicopter.

Today I heard from the Flight Nurse who made the “Odie” cap for Brian.
“Jo Jo says hi and get well soon”.

46. Lisa - November 30, 2006

Brian, I am so thankful that you are doing well. Today is the 29th and it is the first time that I have seen any information about you. I am Kevins sister. I was just wondering if the crash was fast or if there was a second for him to say he loved his wife and children. I know it would mean alot to them if that were the case. Please let me know if you can. Our family hopes the best for you and prays for your recovery.

47. rose gaither - November 30, 2006

Flyin’ Brian….hey buddy…how are you doing? Have been thinking of you every day, since I received word of your crash. Everyone here at CALSTAR says hello and is rooting for you and sending lots of love. Joni Alameda and I were fondly recalling the flight the 3 of us completed in the Big Sur area and the picture of all 3 of us in that beautiful meadow And remember how much we laughed about “the all night long” comment.. Hoping you are back on your feet in no time. Take good care. lottsa love, rose

48. Retired Geezer - November 30, 2006

Our family hopes the best for you and prays for your recovery.

Lisa, thank you for your comment. There are many people praying for your family, not just on this blog. Brian and Kevin (and Kimberly’s) story was linked on several other blogs also.

From everything I’ve learned about Kevin, I’m sure his last thoughts were with his family. It seems like he had an extended family and support group as big as Brian’s.
I know Brian is hoping he will be permitted to meet with you all when he recovers.

Prayerfully yours,
Brian’s dad, Pat.

49. eddiebear - November 30, 2006

RG:

I’m sorry I haven’t commented on your son and his situation prior to now. Sadly, I have been somewhat busy both at the job and at home.

I am glad to hear that Brian seems to be in good spirits and beginning his recovery. I pray he gets better soon. He strikes me as what this country seems to be sorely lacking: a real man.

I pray too for Kevin and his family. I wish I had more top say, but this whole situation leaves me a bit speechless.

God speed to all.

50. CCR Guide - November 30, 2006

Brian,

When the news spread around Buchanan Field, I was so worried for you. You used to make my day whenever I’d bring a tour over to CALSTAR. You were the best with the kids!! Know that I am SO glad that you are getting better, I miss you and I pray for your speedy recovery. Get well soon!
Take Care From Your Friendly Airport Tour Guide,
Doreen
