to make a house a home.
Is that how it goes? Or:
- It takes a heap o’ firearms on your pool table
- It takes a heap o’ inebriated pool urination
- It takes a heap o’ erotic exotic cheeses
- It takes a heap o’ moron bloggers
- It takes a heap o’ homos cuddling on the couch
I don’t know. One of those. I link this* only so those who might not be receiving enough inspiration from Pure Lutheran DoctrineBS might have all options before them.
It basically says you’ll be better off buying a smaller house with a short commute than buying a large house with a long commute because you give inordinate consideration to the occasional gatherings of family and assorted moochers who might be looking for an excuse to drop in.
Of course Michael is his own man. Therefore it is probably for the best that he go through with the large house purchase and quickly have it fitted with plenty of bunk beds and condom dispensers.
*I can’t hat tip where I found this. You would ban me.
Here’s an interesting little trick. If you go to http://www.google.com and in the search box type “link:” (don’t type the quote marks) followed by a url you will get a list of pages that link to the url you posted. Heres and example:

lol!
BTW, for other stupid google tricks http://www.googleguide.com/ is a good resource.
You’re already acting like you have too much time on your hands.
Mmm. The problem is that that “3 bedroom apartment in the city” is in the middle of a slum. The closest grocery store is 15-20 minutes away, and it’s not someplace a woman can go alone after dark. The city park may be across the road, but again, that’s not someplace you can go after dark. And what does said townhome cost? $350,000.
Meanwhile, your three-bedroom house outside the big city will run you something like 160k. If you must have the brand spanking new 5-bedroom house, you can get it for 220 or so. Quiet neighborhood, good schools, an actual yard and garage and driveway, and the HEB is 5 minutes away and safe to go to even at 2 in the morning.
It’s a no-brainer, in my opinion. Especially when the commute is the same amount of time either way.
He’s gonna have a fairly short commute, IIRC bout where the office is. Shorter than the one I had in the 80s, when I worked downtown, but lived in Carrollton (north Dallas).
I’m still throwing a Coke can in his yard though.
Make sure it’s from Thailand or something crazy like that.
I used to have an Arabic Pepsi can, but it got punctured so I had to throw it away.
Ah-hem… Dave’s right…shorter commute than most of the neighborhoods we considered. And in Dallas, the closer you get to downtown the pricier they get.
I was willing to go smaller and cheaper.
Michael is his own man.
Cute post. I enjoyed seeing all those pictures again, Skinny. Thanks.
