A Working Class Hero September 1, 2008

I’m thinking, dang, S. Weasel has been working for the same company for 25 years, and that’s impressive. I suppose she is now pension eligible, if her company has a pension plan. I suppose, after 25 years, that her company is like a family to her.
On this Labor Day, let’s honor the working people like S. Weasel, who are loyal employees that churn out the work, day in and day out, while adapting to enormous changes in the technology that affects their job.
That’s really something. Personally, I will hit that 25-year job anniversary in November. But, at the moment, aside from my marriage, I have not stuck with anything for a quarter of a century.
At work, S. Weasel got a cupcake and other stuff, and she talks about Sarah Palin and her job here. If you like S. Weasel as much as I do, stop by her blog and offer your congrats.
Today, let’s all pause and raise a glass to the folks who work in America, and who make America work.
Happy Labor Day!
In honor of S. Weasel — Working Class Hero by Green Day:
BTW, if you read the comment thread at S. Weasel’s post, you can see a pic that she posted of her younger self at work. She’s hot.
BTW, am I the only one who thinks there should be a public holiday called Capital Day?
Awwww…shucks, Michael. Thanks.
You know, NOBODY goes to art school thinking, “some day, dammit, I’m going to rise up and…work for an engineering company for 25 years!” What can I say? I was born to sit in a cubicle.
Congrats, weas.
You really have the hot hippy thing going on in that picture.
It was really fun to meet her. Especially her enjoying the dumb look on my face when she introduced herself cause up till then I thought she was a dude.
Yeah, it was kinda like that when I met you.
You’re a mean drunk mesa.
Weasel rocks!
‘Least he didn’t call you a Midget DiT.
Btw, I didn’t expect you to be a midget.
Weasel is so talented.
