The Hockey Stick December 12, 2009

Perhaps you have wondered –  how big is Al Gore’s famous “hockey stick,” allegedly showing unprecedented  warming coincident with the dawn of the Industrial Age and greater emissions of CO2?

I turns out that the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a major participant in AGW scaremongering, has the data to put this into perspective.  They just don’t talk about it much.

The really really long-term data is based on isotopes in ice core samplings in places like Greenland and Antarctica, where you have compacted ice going back hundreds of thousands of years.  Some ice cores have Z-isotope data that correlates reasonably well with known temperature data, and thus gives us evidence about the ancient temperature history of the planet.

Take a look.  The video has been updated to include narration, which is very helpful.

Thanks to Watts Up With That?

According to that last graph, the Normal temp over the past 40,000 years is COLD!

I will take the warm thankyouverymuch.

I’m stealing all your posts for my Facebook page. Thank you for your hard work and dedication and helping to make my liberal family members’ heads explode.

Brew, if I can help to explode the heads of any members of your family, so that they cannot reproduce, I will consider that a days work well done.
