You Know What I Love About the Rush to Pass a Health Care Reform Bill? March 18, 2010

…the fact that it doesn’t do anything for 4 years.

Yup, we absolutely, positively have to pass this bill now, because people are losing their coverage every single day!! There’s no time to waste – it’s a calamity!! We must act now!!!!!

Or 4 years from now. Whatever.

Thought I ‘d also mention that the number of uninsured includes illegal immigrants (the CBO calls them “unauthorized immigrants”) and people who are eligible, but have not filed for, Medicaid coverage.

I don’t understand the whole vote/reconciliation/cloture/deem and pass vomitus, but I get worried when I see comments like “we’re fucked.”

However, I did hear this morning that several states, including Geezer’s Idaho, are already preparing a vigorous legal case against the bill, so that gives me hope.

I love those numbers. It really shows just how insincere and dishonest this whole HRC effort is.

All the years we have heard the screams and cries of “How dare you allow even one person in this country to go without insurance??” and yet, even by their very own estimates, this obnoxious POS still leaves ~20 million people wthout insurance, with those numbers rising at the end….

And we need this why?

Mark Levin’s legal foundation has already posted the complaint they will file to declare the act unconstitutional under Article I if they attempt to pass it under the Slaughter Rule. It sets out a pretty good argument.

Mark Levin’s legal foundation…..

It’s about time we started using the legal system to fight back. The left sure doesn’t have a problem with doing it, why haven’t we?

Or maybe we have and the press just ignores it?

HRC = HCR.

HRC needs to be reformed in the worst way, but that’s a different subject.

It does do one thing in the first four years.

It starts taxing.

I think this thing is going to pass by one vote. I hate it, but that’s what I think.

The liberals are gonna do for health care what they’ve done for education.

Damn, I wish I were rich, so I wouldn’t have to worry so much about this effecting me.

I place no faith whatsoever in rolling this back through the courts. We’re gonna have to roll it back legislatively, and that will be a long hard fight, even harder than the fight for school choice has been, which we’re losing so far.

The only good thing is that the people getting screwed the most by Obama are you young folks trying to get started in life who overwhelming supported him.

Problem is, that includes my children.

I expect a majority of Dem voters won’t pay significant income taxes the next 4 years, but will collect government beni’s for all of the next 10. Funny how that works.

10. Hotspur - March 18, 2010

It will do another thing in the first four years – create a new and very expensive, wasteful, and inefficient bureau of pear shaped government workers.

11. daveintexas - March 18, 2010

geoff, can you put me some fuckin knowledge on the numbers behind the chart?

12. geoff - March 18, 2010

The numbers come from Table 2 of today’s CBO report on the costs of the latest plan.

13. daveintexas - March 18, 2010

ok, thanks!

14. Leslie - March 18, 2010

Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!

What? This isn’t the Bush re-election rally?

15. geoff - March 18, 2010

Hey Dave – you can just put the chart up at AoSHQ if you want. And the unemployment projection one as well.

They make a fine matched pair of legislation with lots of spending and no apparent benefit.

16. daveintexas - March 18, 2010

okey doke, thanks

“this obnoxious POS still leaves ~20 million people wthout insurance”

And the IRS will hit them up for $2500 or 2.5% of their income, whichever is greater, for the crime of being unable to afford health insurance, but too “well-off” to get federal subsidies.

Yeah, they care about “helping people” like I can run a 40 in 4.3 seconds.

18. daveintexas - March 18, 2010

yeah, my 23 year old kid is really looking forward to the onerous obligations of this comprehensive piece of shit.

How else do you think Obama and his merry band of street trash plan on paying for this? It sure isn’t through getting rid of those “Medicare inefficiencies”.

Just imagine if an insurance company took withdrawals from your bank account for not buying their product and you’ve got Obamacare in a nutshell. It gets a hell of a lot easier to extend the ponzi a bit longer when part of the population isn’t drawing from the available pool of money.
