Why does Scott send me cool links which emabarass me, because I did not find them myself? July 7, 2011

I think he’s just trying to show Laura that he is a better man than me. I understand that. I danced with Laura, and I am sort of a god on the dance floor. Probably I should feel flattered that he feels threatened by me. But I don’t. Scott just put me in my place with this link:

Beautiful, clever gal. Great voice. Engaging smile and dimples.
And her only instrument other than her voice is a cheap plastic cup.
Amazing!
Her voice reminds me a little of Sue Foley. Not an exact match, but close enough.
I really like when a good singer runs with a minimalist version of a good song. All that overproduction you get from “that stuff the kids listen to today” is just like a thick coat of plaster. This is the real structural deal.

Yay Michael… uh.
I mean Yay Scott.
What Russ said.
That was a good clip of Sue Foley. I was surprised at how well she played Lead.
I also liked the flattening of the chord at the beginning, kind of a minimalist Whammy bar done by bending the whole neck of the guitar.
Dave can’t do that on his Bass.
I saw her play at Blues on Grand in Des Moines back in the early 90′s when she first went nationwide. Not the best show I’ve ever seen, but damn good.
I’m still kicking myself for missing the infamous Tinsley Ellis open-mic night at BoG. Around 94 or so, Tinsley played a set in Des Moines on a Sunday night in January. That night we had a blizzard with 10+ inches of snow & ice, so the DSM airport shut down the next day. The Blues on Grand bar always used to have an open mic night every Monday, so instead of chilling at his hotel room, Tinsley walked 6 blocks down to the BoG and sat in with a bunch of amateurs. I heard about it the next day on the radio, and later I talked to a guy who was there. According to him, it was one of the greatest shows he’s ever seen.
That’s almost as bad as me missing a chance to see Stevie Ray Vaughn’s last concert because I was working overtime that week.
Well, as long as I’m going to namedrop, might as well post a sample.
Wow, this is addictive.
Off topic, but what does “emabarrass” mean??
*runs*
Does Scott feel threatened by Michael?
A. No, but what with the puny banana trees and all, let’s just let him believe that
B. No, but lauraw’s therapist says she’s not yet ready to confront those memories
C. No, but wiserbud sure creeps him the hell out
D. Yes, but it’s not his wife he’s worried about, IYKWIMAITYD
Just based on his online personality, it actually wouldn’t surprise me if Michael were good on the dance floor. He probably just has fun and doesn’t think much about whether or not he looks like a dork. For me, I’ll make myself get up and dance, but I feel like a dork, so I probably look like a dork.
A former girlfriend years ago told me she thought I danced like a transvestite. To this day, I have no idea what to make of that comment. Can’t be good, though.
Sounds like a compliment, Sandy.
Michael, you’ve danced with me more than my husband has in thirteen years of marriage.
We danced once. At his friend’s wedding. That was it.
Fortunately for him, I don’t remotely give a care.
