Slighting Texas A&M August 6, 2011

Mrs. Peel should really be writing this, but since she ain’t, I wanted to defend Texas A&M from this comment by some anonymous yahoo who was quoted by the Huffington Post.
“A&M wasn’t exactly Harvard on the Brazos River,” recalled a Perry classmate in an interview with The Huffington Post.
That quote seems very unlikely – I’d go so far as to say that it was fabricated by someone who knows nothing about A&M. After all, the Aggies are ranked 13th among engineering schools. Hahvahd? #18.
But how about Rick Perry’s major – animal sciences? Harvard doesn’t appear to have such a major, but A&M’s graduate program is ranked 8th in the country (I couldn’t find a ranking for the undergraduate program). Not too shabby.
Perry’s grades may have been pathetic, but the school he went to has strong academics and is perfectly reputable. Fortunately for his candidacy, HuffPo couldn’t keep its mouth shut until a more critical moment in his campaign.
I am a graduate of East Texas A&M State University.
Also, Keef Olbermann (who?) got a degree from Cornell A&M
DiT, We are now Texas A&M – Commerce.
By coming here, you are leaps and bounds above Keef in the noggin.

s’why I use that joke
So, has the HuffPo demanded the student records of one Barry Soetoro?
From what I remember, A&M is top notch in engineering, animal science, vet medicine, and food science (Janis has attended several training sessions at ATM over the years). They’re seen as a “cow college” because most of their graduates actually work for a living, plus they’ve got a strong military culture on campus. Bonus: Their marching band is pretty fly as well, if you can get around those male cheerleaders dressed up as ice cream salesmen.
I rather doubt that A&M uses the ‘pass/fail’ system that King Putt (Love that too.) got through at HAAAARRRRRVID!!!11!1
Back when we lived in San Antonio we knew a young man from our church who got into A&M with straight-A grades from a very reputable high school in our area.
The tough curriculum at A&M kicked his living ass!!! He almost flunked out. It took him several semesters to recover and settle down. No slouchers. No slackers.
