*holds lighter up in air*

That was terrific! He really transformed that. And Scott does like it! I just played it for him here at work.

3. Retired Geezer - August 9, 2011

He really transformed that.

That’s the phrase I was looking for.

4. Cathy - August 9, 2011

Guy’s awesome, and is obviously having fun too.

Good to see talent and joy in the same package…

5. daveintexas - August 9, 2011

No shit, that was awesome

6. Michael - August 9, 2011

I have talent too!

I vacuumed the pool today. It takes practice and proper technique to do this right.

7. daveintexas - August 9, 2011

How does that work Michael? I have this hose thingy they gave me six years ago when they built the pool… ok I guess I could just ask em.

8. Retired Geezer - August 9, 2011

Michael only learned how to do that so he wouldn’t have to hire Julio the Pool Boy, who, coincidentally enough, moved from Ohio to Texas around the same time Michael did.

9. Michael - August 9, 2011

Dave, I think you are fucking with me.

10. daveintexas - August 9, 2011

No seriously, I mean, I plugged the hose into the return but it just didn’t seem to do much.

11. Julio - August 9, 2011

Julio like Colorado vacacion very very much. Mucho gusto. Gracias, Meester Miguel. Julio is feel so relax.

What “return” line are you talking about? The ones on the wall won’t work. They are relief lines only. You need to remove the skimmer basket and use the hole that has the serious suction (assuming there is more than one hole, which is not always the case). If you have more than one skimmer, shut the other one off. Leave the floor drain open.

Also, you need to attach the vacuum head to the pole and the hose, submerge it, then gradually sink the entire length of the hose to fill it with water before you put the last couple of feet into the bottom of a skimmer. Otherwise, the pump is just working too hard to clear too much air.

When vacuuming, move the cleaner head slowly so that the suction head can work, and you don’t stir up the really fine sediments your are trying to get (that your Polaris misses). Of course, you should have given your pool time to settle before you start any of this so those sediments are on the bottom and not suspended in the water.

I still think you’re fucking with me.

Beautifully done and an interesting technique.

14. daveintexas - August 9, 2011

I used that thing.

I’m doing it wrong.

15. Michael - August 9, 2011

I am never going to splain pool maintenance to Dave again. He is just having too much fun.
