TXMarko suggested that I feature Karen Carpenter as one of the Great Voices of Rock. He must have been reading my mind. I had the pleasure of running a spotlight for Karen and Richard at the MGM hotel in the 70′s. They had a wonderful show.

This video is one of the best versions of this song that I could find on YouTube, though I confess all the versions I watched were pretty good. I’m thinking that her brother, Richard, did the arrangement. He was/is very talented. You can see him behind Karen on the piano. Two nice hooks in the song; the bass gliss and the French Horns.

Here’s the Wiki for the Carpenters.

Since I did my post on Paul Carrick, I have been thinking about all the Great Voices of Rock. Here’s my second offering, Lou Gramm, the lead vocalist for Foreigner.

Sorry, embedding is disabled on this video but it’s the best version I could find.

This song is the ringtone I hear when Mrs. Geezer calls me on the phone.

When I call her, she hears the sound of the Red Phone from Our Man Flint.

‘Waiting’ wasn’t their biggest hit, that honor belongs to ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’.

The song features backing vocals from the New Jersey Mass Choir. The choir appears in the song’s music video.

I know I’ve seen this before so I searched the IB Archives to see if this was posted here already… no joy.

It used to be on YT but was removed for some obscure reason. Now it’s back, for your Virtual Pleasure ™. The music is pretty good also.

Here’s a song you’ve all heard before. It was first popularized by a group called Ace.

The lead singer was Paul Carrack, who later became part of Mike and the Mechanics, with Mike Rutherford (of Genesis).

While the lyrics seem to be from the point of view of a man confronting his unfaithful partner, lead singer Paul Carrack confirmed that he composed the song upon discovering that bassist Terry Comer had been secretly working with other bands.[2] Comer returned to Ace in time to play on this song.[2]

I think Paul Carrack is one of the best Vocalists in the last 30 years.
