There is probably a deeper metaphor in this video, pertaining to the Economy.
How did they ever get atomic weapons and how did the dude get in that mud bog in the first place?
Nice to see that these days they are buying Cats in an attempt to get stuff done.
OBF, to answer your question, the Russkies got atomic weapons (and rockets to launch them somewhere near the target) the same way we did, with Germans.
