UPDATE: Kudos to the Buckeyes (what the hell is a buckeye anyway?), see you in the tournament.

For the first time ever a University of Wisconsin basketball team is ranked #1 in the country. I realize that some of the lesser, unimportant polls seem to think another team should be number 1, but they’re just wrong. Duh.

In any event, the issue looks like it will be resolved this coming weekend. I’m thinking by this time next week we’ll have us some Buckeye Beyotchs. 🙂

Wow. I bet people all over Washington are very excited.

2. mesablue - February 19, 2007

And Wyoming. Go Cowboys!

3. Wickedpinto - February 19, 2007

Sorry, I just saw the newest slowsk commercial.

I love those friggen commercials. “YOU COME PUSH IT!! PUSH IT REAL GOOD!”

which of course was supposed to be reminiscent of the salt-n-peppa tune.

All the slowsky commercials give me a giggle.

4. eddiebear - February 20, 2007

Duke sucks.

Just thought I’d return this thread to sports.

Oh, and lest I forget:
Duke sucks.

5. Wickedpinto - February 20, 2007

For Mrs. Peel.

I once again elaborate honestly, only this time I have to reference the comments of Ace to demonstrate how.

My good lady peel?

I am cold, but never insensitive.

6. BrewFan - February 20, 2007

I have the power, you know. I mostly use it for good. Mostly.

7. kevlarchick - February 20, 2007

Is basketball ever OVER?

8. Dave in Texas - February 20, 2007

Yes. Go back to the Lifetime Network dear.

9. Retired Geezer - February 20, 2007

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that most of you will enjoy this.
It’s safe for work, unless they count off for lumps-in-your-throat.

Oh man, I can’t look at it right now, is it that speech he gave before the Superbowl?

What an incredible Christian man. He has an amazing witness.

11. Retired Geezer - February 20, 2007

It was the speach he gave at the Athletes in Action breakfast about his 3 sons.
Uplifting.

12. Dave in Texas - February 20, 2007

yeah, I’ve seen that.

I would love to have played football for a leader like that.

Coach Krausen, not so inspiring.

13. Mr Minority - February 20, 2007

Wisconsin has a university?

What are it’s majors – Cheese Making, Cheese Eating and Cutting the Cheese?

14. BrewFan - February 20, 2007

Don’t forget beer making, beer drinking, and beer farts.

15. eddiebear - February 20, 2007

What about brats, chalets, cranberries, shadrap, ice fishing and deer hunting?

16. eddiebear - February 20, 2007

For the record, I am a lifelong St. Louisian and loyal A-B guy. But the Miller brewery tour kicks A-B’s Ass! I went to Milwaukee a few years ago to see the Cardinals throttle the Brew Crew in County Stadium’s final season with a friend of my wife’s who works for Marquette. We went on the tour of the Miller Brewery and they gave us 3 tall glasses a piece! Well, my wife doesn’t drink, so I had a good time!

17. eddiebear - February 20, 2007

And lest I forget to mention: the A-B tour only gives 2 small cups.

18. mesablue - February 20, 2007

Ouch, that had to hurt.

19. Lipstick - February 20, 2007

The only reason to go to brewery or winery tours is the tasting room.

Bla bla bla, look at the vats and barrels. Where the hell is the tasting room?!

20. Sticky B - February 21, 2007

DiT

Are you speaking of the infamous Joe Krausen who was the coach at Ranger JC in the early 90’s? I heard he was a mean SOB.

21. eddiebear - February 21, 2007

That was what I was like when I was in Europe. I went to Newcastle, England, Copenhagen and Amsterdam to visit the Newcastle Brewery, Heineken (spell?) and Carlsberg breweries, respectively. I figured you see one brewey, you see them all.

Oh, the Badgers lost last night. Oops.

22. Dave in Texas - February 21, 2007

Sticky B, not sure just cause I didn’t know what happened to him after I graduated (1977), but our coach Krausen was a Joe.

And he was a bastard.

23. Dave in Texas - February 21, 2007

Sticky, I don’t know if it’s the same coach, but our guy’s first name was Joe. It’s certainly possible.

24. Dave in Texas - February 21, 2007

I run the Department of Redundancy Department.

Badgers lost?

Badgers? We don need no steenkin Badgers!

25. compos mentis - February 21, 2007

First time at #1 in school history. Congrats! Probably a record for the shortest time at #1 as well, seeing how the Spartans spanked the Badgers’ furry backsides last night.

And for the record, Madison is a great party town. Gots me some stories I do.

26. kevlarchick - February 21, 2007

Aren’t all coaches mean bastards?

I’m so glad I’m a non athletic girly girl. I throw like a girl. I run like a girl. There isn’t a coach in the world who could tell me anything I don’t already know about my athletic ablility. He would have no joy in seeing me cry; it would be effortless for him.

27. Jimmy Dugan - February 21, 2007

there’ no crying in baseball

28. BrewFan - February 21, 2007

I think this was a case of ‘looking ahead’. I’m guessing if we beat O.S. like the rented mules they are, we’ll hold on to the #1 spot.

29. Pupster - February 21, 2007

Hey Brew,
You wanna live blog the game on Sunday?

30. Dave in Texas - February 21, 2007

Yeah, I live blogged the Horns and that went really well.

31. BrewFan - February 21, 2007

Hey Brew,
You wanna live blog the game on Sunday?

I can’t chew bubblegum and walk at the same time so I’ll probably just watch 🙂 Although if you do you can bet I’ll have the laptop warmed up to issue the occaisional rebuttal.

32. Michael - February 21, 2007

occaisional

Let’s hope the Badgers’ game plan is better than this.

33. Pupster - February 21, 2007

I probably won’t watch the game, I like listen to basketball and baseball on the radio.

I HAVE to watch football on TV, but I like the radio for some sports.

34. mesablue - February 25, 2007

Ouch, again.

35. Frank Burns - February 25, 2007

No ouch. The Badgers almost won the game despite losing their starting center early in the game. I don’t think anybody can say one of those teams is better then the other at this point. They each won at home and each lost to Michigan State 🙂

36. BrewFan - February 25, 2007

Oops! Busted!

37. Dave in Texas - February 25, 2007

eh heh heh heh
