Daydreamin’ And I’m Thinking Of You -lauraw March 25, 2007

Posted by anycomments in Man Laws, Personal Experiences.

Love music from a woman to a man.

The kind you don’t hear anymore.

(Day dreamin’ and I’m thinkin’ of you)
(Look at my heart floating away)

He’s the kind of guy that would say
‘Hey baby let’s get away let’s go some place, huh”
Where I don’t care
He’s the kind of guy that you give your everything
And trust your heart, share all of your love, till death do you part

I want to be what he wants when he wants it, and whenever he needs it
And when he’s lonesome and feelin’ love starved
I’ll be there to feed it
I’m givin’ him a little bit for each day
He turns me right on when I hear him say

(Hey baby let’s get away, let’s go somewhere far
(Baby can we’)
Where I don’t care
(Hey baby let’s get away, let’s go somewhere far
(Baby can we’)
Where I don’t care

I wanna be what he wants when he wants it
And whenever he needs it
When it comes to bein’ feelin’ loved starved I’ll be there to feed it
Lovin him a little bit more each day
It turns me right on when I hear him say

(Hey baby let’s get away, let’s go somewhere far)
(Baby can we’)

Where, I don’t care

Love music from a woman to a man.

A man? or a crack rock?

2. lauraw - March 25, 2007

Miss Aretha is a national treasure.

I saw her concert a few years ago. The higher part of her range and her soaring arias are sadly diminished by time, but she still has it.

‘Ain’t No Way’ still crushes my heart. Such soul.

3. lauraw - March 25, 2007

dr4, Go to Hell.

4. dr4 - March 25, 2007

Goddamnit. Its aretha franklin? I cant see the video for some reason. I figured it was Natalie Coles version.

Lets try that again:

Love music from a woman to a man.

A man? or a bucket of chicken?

Thats better.

I like Aretha. I think “Chain of Fools” is her best.

Useless fact: I dont know if youre old enough to remember Joe South, but he played the guitar on Chain of Fools.

He had a hit with the song “Games People Play” in the late 60s. He did Walk a Mile in my Shoes too. He was mainly a writer though. ‘Down in the Boondocks’ by Billy Joe Royal. ‘Hush’ by Deep Purple and some other big hits.

5. Bart - March 25, 2007

I too cannot see the vid. I was hoping it was this one.

6. lauraw - March 25, 2007

I like Aretha. I think “Chain of Fools” is her best.

You have got to be shitting me. She’s got like a dozen songs better than that one.

7. lauraw - March 25, 2007

How come I can see it and nobody else can?

8. Bart - March 25, 2007

Or this one.

I like this song a lot. You wanna know why?
Good, I’ll tell you.

Back in 1988, my folks bought a convertible Corvette. The car was hot. Anyway, it came with a cassette tape of some songs to demonstrate it’s Bose stereo system.

This Journey song was on it, as well as a tune from Duran Duran called Hungry Like a Wolf. Those two songs, and Def Leppard’s Pour Some Sugar on Me, and Salt N Pepa’s Push It sounded awesome in that car at 100+ mph with the top down.

9. dr4 - March 25, 2007

Maybe Aretha is your Magic Negro laura?

Only people who believe in her extra hard can see her?

either that or you downloaded the video before whatever happened to screwup Youtube embeds. I cant see them on any site as of the last few minutes.

Just post a link directly to the video. I can still see them at youtube itself.

Why dont you name some of these dozens of songs that are better than Chain of Fools?

10. Bart - March 25, 2007

This also was on the tape.

Damn, I miss the ’80s.

11. mesablue - March 25, 2007

Aretha’s son Teddy Richards is a buddy if mine.

12. dr4 - March 25, 2007

GM always had the best factory radios in them Bart. Delcos and Bose are the two that they use i think.

Heres a song that will do away with some of your 80s nostalgia:

Man those lyrics are deep.

13. Bart - March 25, 2007

That video is sickening. I had to cleanse my ’80s mindset with this:

14. dr4 - March 26, 2007

I think i hurt lauraws feelings 😦

‘Alone Again’ is a good Dokken song. George Lynch was a badass guitarist.

15. Bart - March 26, 2007

Well, my intuition tells me that lauraw’s choice of music is a telltale sign of her current mood. She’s feelin’ Aretha, at the moment.

Unfortunately, we’re not.

Oops, I mean 😦

16. dr4 - March 26, 2007

Dearest Lauraw,

Oh, please, don’t kill us. Please, please don’t kill us. You know I love you baby. I wouldn’t leave ya. It wasn’t my fault. Honest… I ran out of gas. I, I had a flat tire. I didn’t have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn’t come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts. IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD.

17. dr4 - March 26, 2007

Im tired. Time to sleep.

I figure youre a Pats fan Bart so heres Peyton Manning on SNL from last night. This was the only funny bit but it was gold:

18. Dave in Texas - March 26, 2007

Hey nineteen, that’s ‘Retha Franklin.
She don’t remember, the Queen of Soul.

but I do.

19. geoff - March 26, 2007

That was nice lw. And rare, as you say. The forty+ years of social consciousness raising since that don’t seem to have done much for the relations between men and women. I suspect Aretha’s simple sentiment would be anathema to today’s grrrrls.

20. lauraw - March 26, 2007

Here’s a link to the video for those who can’t see it.

You may need to adjust the volume when the singing starts.

21. lauraw - March 26, 2007

You didn’t hurt my feelings, dr4, I just went to bed.

Before you explained yourself I was kind of ticked at the insinuation that Aretha was a crackhead.
That was so totally from left field and rotten, and I was in such a sappy sentimental mood (whisky and water), that I made a snap judgement about your character.

Good To Me As I Am To You
Until You Come Back To Me

27. lauraw - March 26, 2007

I brought a CD to work this morning…listening to Good To Me As I Am To You right now.
My girlfriend burned this CD for me. I should call her today and tell her that I love her.

My sister went to school with Robert Matthew Van Winkle. He graduated from my high school.

Weird coincidences.

And you are not a jerk laura.

You are sappy though. Which is sweet.

46. lauraw - March 27, 2007

Yep. I’d like to tell you about that night in Acuna, Mexico but I’m not sure the statute of limitations has run out yet.

50. Sobek - March 27, 2007

I dare anyone here to make fun of my legendary fondness for the musical stylings of “Wham!”

51. daveintexas - March 27, 2007

Oh me, oh me, oh me!!!

Ahem. George. Michael.

If you know the name of that other flake, you are teh ghey.

52. Sobek - March 27, 2007

53. Michael - March 27, 2007

I dare anyone here to make fun of my legendary fondness for the musical stylings of “Wham!”

Damn, that’s hard to pass up, but then I’m looking at your teeth . . .
