I will admit that I like that song twenty times more than I did when it came out.

The ‘Whip it’ video always cracks me up. Reminds me of Busby Berkey.

Oh yeah, Devo totally ripped off our IB Official Chemical Element tagline;

“Are We Not Men? … We are Carbon”.

What? …

Never mind.

2. dr4 - March 28, 2007

Busby Berkley?

How?

They do a good job of Workin in a Coal mine too.

3. Wickedpinto - March 29, 2007

I don’t see the buzby thing either.

Wasn’t buzby known for the overhead views of choreagraphed dance and swimming and such?

I thought buzby was known for moving the camera along the z axis, when most were still focused only on the X and Y.

4. Retired Geezer - March 29, 2007

Well I gotta wait until Bart finds the video for me so I can see if I remembered it correctly.

5. Bart - March 29, 2007

Busby Berkely could direct.

6. Bart - March 29, 2007

Why don’t actors wear fruit-hats, anymore?

7. Wickedpinto - March 29, 2007

The video for “whip it” I think was by, Gerald V. Casale yes I had to look it up.

I thought one of the members directed, and created the video, and I forgot the names (had a roommate who was a big fan of Devo, and he was an art student, so we would fight over such things, and I knew the answer before I looked it up, I just forgot, of course he didn’t know SHIT about art of noise, so SUCK THAT ART STUDENT!)

There is not a single Z axis shot, so yeah, no buzby influence, all of the “artistry” was based on the 2 dimensional medium, not in the broad form of film.

In fact, the 2 dimensional form wasn’t that artfuly rendered compared to “satisfaction” which creates conflictory scenes.

RG? really, you lived in a world of ass headed artist for how long? and you mistake “whip it” as a buzby berkly inspiration?

Mell brooks used the buzby z roaming camera like it was masturbation during a woodstock orgy, but you designate Devo, (devolution) as being inspired by busby? nopes.

I love you, you old horse cock handling mentor, but, that was just wrong.

No offense.

What do you get when you combine the ’60’s, Manhattan, a high-rise apartment, really cool furniture, a butler, and a kaleidoscope?

9. geoff - March 29, 2007

Yegods. That’s what I thought it was before I looked. Next you’ll be linking “Courtship of Eddie’s Father” or “Room 222.”

10. Bart - March 29, 2007

The ‘butler’ gave it away.

I’m really impressed with the upper-class fashion of the ’60s. It’s so clean and crisp. I just added the series to my Netflix queue so I can see all the neat furniture.

Speaking of satisfaction.

Seems the Crawford Peace House is in a little trouble right now.

Unable to account for receipt of donations, expenditures. Comptroller yanked their corporate charter.

IRS asking questions.

When asked “why didn’t you file your corporate statements” they answered “we. forgot.”

*hangs head*

Bart and WP are right. Now that I think about it, it *was* a Busby Berkeley movie I was thinking of. Here’s what I remember, cowboys in a circle, cracking whips and shooting pistols. I guess I must have seen it in That’s Entertainment.

*slinks away to play with the puppy*

13. dr4 - March 29, 2007

No you were right Geez. If you watch to the end of Barts second clip that guy with the monkey whips the shit out of Carmen Miranda.

Kind of hot acually…

Why am i suddenly craving fruit salad?

I was going to say “Im going to eat some fruit” but i didnt want to give Dave any ideas. Sorry Dave.
