Gas Lines in Tehran Lead to Violence June 27, 2007

Posted by Sobek in AA - Uncategorized.

“Windows were smashed and stones thrown at the stations, and there was traffic chaos as motorists queued to buy fuel.”Iranians were given only two hours’ notice of the move that limits private drivers to 100 litres of fuel a month. “

Does this mean Ahmadinejad is the Iranian Jimmy Carter?  Because that’s pretty freakin’ awesome.

More sugary goodness:

“‘Guns, fireworks, tanks, [President] Ahmadinejad should be killed,’ chanted angry youths, throwing stones at police.”

In totally unrelated news, Britain’s new Prime Minister is Mr. Bean:

And to think an Oil Rich country like Iran has shortages. I wonder where they are sending that oil.

And to think that such a country needs nuke fuel for “energyu purposes”.

As for Gordon Brown, my preliminary research (in other words, reading old issues of The Economist) paint him as a less articulate, more reclusive fellow than Blair. And also more of a doctrinaire Labourite.

But I guess we’ll soon find out.

I’ll check, but if memory serves they are a net importer of gasoline – no refininng capacity.

The Saudis are too.

100 Liters a MONTH? Thats only 26 US Gallons.

One single fillup of a typical SUV or Pick ’em-up Truck.

Because of price controls, gas is approximately $0.11 per liter, so they’re maxing out at eleven bucks in gas per month. I wish I could swing that kind of gas budget.

Dave, the article says they are a net importer. Their shah-era refineries (get this!) have actually started to fall apart since the 70’s, and since fiery anti-Western rhetoric doesn’t put them back together again, and since they have no other relevant skill sets, they have to import.

Wow! I didn’t know they were an importer. Shows how little I know.

Where the heck do they need to drive anyway?

To the homosexual-killings, of course.
