I’m buying some of that coffee.

2. Lipstick - November 27, 2007

So Mrs. Mesa doesn’t spank you?

3. mesablue - November 27, 2007

Mrs. Mesa?

There hasn’t been a Mrs. Mesa in fourteen years. Well, there have been a few temporary Mrs. Mesa’s since then.

Time to go find another one.

Happy hunting!

5. eddiebear - November 28, 2007

Wow! These ads make Aunt Jemima look politically correct by comparison.

Just this evening I pulled down an old volume of a Japanese satire entitled Kappa, published in English in 1949. On the back it said:

Gulliver in Kimono . . . . To American Readers, Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s satire seemed almost too good to have been written by a Japanese. –Time

Of course that was directly after WWII, so perhaps there was a little more to it than simple racist patronizing.

Happy hunting!

Don’t give him any ideas.

Is It Always Illegal to Kill a Woman?

That one made me chuckle.

The spanking one made me feel randy.

(I don’t think he appreciated it.)

9. BrewFan - November 28, 2007

I suspect reading the want ads makes compos randy.

Ahhhh those were the days. Oppression, exploitation, and a brand new Mustang for 2800 bucks.

Men wore hats too. Hats are cool.

Lipstick Dynamite, you are a naughty, naughty chef. Daddy is going to have to spank you now.

[…] the following by e-mail.  As they were discussing humorous old ads at our sister competing another commenting blog recently, I thought I would share this with you […]

1946: Women are seen as indecisive, trying to squeeze into something too small, worried someone else is wearing the same dress and then taking it back to the shop. Men need only one look at the Pacific label to know it suits you, sir

yeah. thats just a stereotype…

Some things change, and some things don’t.

Now that’s the kind of wife I need! She’s hot and can cook! All I have to do is buy her a blender, over, washer, dryer etc and she’ll be happy. I wish they still made them that way…

15. Michael - June 17, 2010

I wish they still made them that way…

Huh. My wife is just like that. She can cook, and she’s a submissive and grateful sex slave. She also keeps the house clean.

I just wish that she was smart enough so that I could talk to her about serious stuff.

Trouble Brewing.

17. reason - June 18, 2010

Brewer Troublin’.

18. Cathy - June 18, 2010

Is “smart enough” defined as being able to tolerate and inhale smoke in the Bat Cave?

*Still waiting for my Roombas*

19. reason - June 18, 2010

It doesn’t sound like Michael cares much about how you process the smoke, Cathy.

He just wants to blow it up your skirt, so to speak.
