Fun Camp Geezer Activities August 9, 2009

Posted by Retired Geezer in Ducks.

At the risk of posting something (yet again) that Michael has already posted, I present for your approval:

Skinbad and his kids tried it, when they visited Ideeho.

Most of them have recovered.

Wow. That’s so cool I have to wonder if it is real.

2. Michael - August 9, 2009

The blurb at YouTube says that this was a “test run.”

Do the math on that.

3. Dave in Texas - August 9, 2009

As I mentioned when I saw this before.

Somebody hold my beer, I gotta try this shit.

4. kevlarchick - August 9, 2009

That is some serious math and physics there to make that happen. Sheesh. I will offer first aid when Dave careens off the side of the ramp and into the rough.

5. xbradtc - August 9, 2009

That’s as fake as a Democrat “grass roots” movement, but still awesome dipped in awesome sauce.

It may be fake, but if done using a dummy of equal weight several times and seeing if it landed consistently the next step is putting up the pool and seeing how hard it hits in 4′ or so of water. Then comes the big brass ones moment and actually doing it. That would take big brass ones! Or maybe steel.

8. Michael - August 9, 2009

Note that:

1. The slider is out of sight in a dip in the ground before he comes back into view and hits the ramp. That’s where a switch between human and dummy would occur between takes.

2. The camera stutters just before a live person emerges from the pool.

Sorry to be a killjoy.

9. Michael - August 9, 2009

I take that back about the camera stutter. It doesn’t do that every time I play it; meaning it’s just a bandwidth thing between me and YouTube.

Also, I have to admit that the dummy manages some pretty lifelike movement in the air. He tucks before he hits the water. You see this better if you watch it full-screen.

I don’t know.

10. Dave in Texas - August 10, 2009

I was gonna say, how does it move it’s arms around?

11. skinbad - August 10, 2009

When I did it at Camp Geezer I wet the ramp myself. Intentionally? I’m not saying.

I can’t believe that pool would have survived the hit. Color me dubious.

12. skinbad - August 10, 2009

Meaning a few little kids splashing around seems to decimate all those pools I’ve seen in my neighborhood.

13. reason - August 10, 2009

I raise an eyebrow.
In salute, yes; but also
in skepticism.

14. Sobek - August 10, 2009

I’ve heard that certain government agencies train their guys to do that.

That’s what I’ve heard.

15. Mrs. Peel - August 10, 2009

Sobek, did you see this comment? I thought it was funny, but apparently, no one else did…

16. skinbad - August 11, 2009

Dave’s zit comment killed that thread. It’s not your fault.

Ah, sweet vindication.

In other Microsoft Office news, Microsoft can’t sell Word anymore.
