Brewers Hall of Fame radio voice Bob Uecker today underwent successful heart surgery at Froedtert Hospital. The 6-hour surgery was performed by Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin cardiothoracic surgeon Alfred C. Nicolosi.

“As of 2:30 pm, Bob is out of surgery and in the ICU. We are pleased that Mr. Uecker’s surgery went smoothly today,” said Nicolosi. “We replaced his aortic valve, aortic root and part of his ascending aorta. We also did a coronary bypass on one vessel.”

It is expected that Uecker will remain hospitalized at Froedtert for approximately five to seven days, with a full recovery expected to run 10-12 weeks.

Bush’s Fault? Not so Fast, Steny! April 28, 2010

Steny Hoyer lays the deficit at Bush’s feet.

There’s a myth that our budget deficit mess sprang into existence at the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, 2009. But in truth, more than 90% of the projected deficit we will face over the next decade is the result of President Bush’s 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the rescue of the financial sector he began in the last few months of his presidency, and lower revenues from the recession.

Fortunately, we’ve heard that one before, and we debunked it over 2 months ago.

Hoyer should start reading a higher class of blogs.

Mr. Baseball

One of the great characters of the game, Bob Uecker, is slated to undergo heart surgery this week. If you aren’t familiar with Bob he is a former major league player who’s claim to fame is being a below average catcher. Really. He came to national prominence for his appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and his Miller Lite commercials.

Bob Uecker currently is the Milwaukee Brewer’s radio voice and as any long-suffering Brewer’s fan will tell you that over the years many people listened to his broadcasts even when the team was playing badly (which was most of the 90’s and 00’s) because he has the gift of gab and will crack you up with his great stories. Here is a link to some of the wit and wisdom of Mr. Baseball.

Get well soon, Bob!

Haven’t Seen Sobek Around Much… April 25, 2010

Most of you probably don’t know I recently got a new job.  I didn’t mention it here because it’s some hush-hush, government type stuff.  But the project I’m working on now is really cool, and I just gotta share some of it with you, my blog buddies.

I’ve been drafting regulations for Obama’s new socialized medicine plan.  As you may know, Congress only passes the outlines of a massive government bureaucracy, and leaves it up to the unelected, unaccountable executive branchers like myself to fill in the details.  (In this context, the word “details” is synonymous with “substance”.)  Here’s a sample regulation, to help illustrate my point:

Verrrrry suspicious:

“One of the things that happened when he came to the White House is they have a very great pastry chef. It became a big problem,” Axelrod confided on “The Tonight Show.” The president, he said, “has a weakness for pie.”

Obama Scolds… April 23, 2010

The classic Obama pose:

Scolder In Chief

  • Obama scolds Wall St. for resisting reform (4/23/10)
  • Obama makes 15 recess appointments, scolds GOP (3/27/10)
  • Obama talks tough on security, scolds officials (1/5/10)
  • Obama scolds Rep. Cantor at summit for paper prop (2/25/10)
  • Obama scolds Cambridge police (7/23/09)
  • Obama scolds card issuers, and their silence speaks volumes (4/24/09)
  • Obama Scolds Holder’s “Nation of Cowards” Comments (3/28/09)
  • Obama Scolds Kenya (2/3/09)
  • Obama ScoldsChides Auto Makers in Fresh Blow (11/25/08)
  • Obama Scolds Comedian for Crude Jokes at Fund-Raiser(7/12/08)
  • Obama scolds absentee fathers (6/16/08)
  • Obama scolds South Africa over Zimbabwe crisis (6/24/08)
  • Obama scolds Bush on environment, energy proposals (4/4/06)

In addition, his administration has “scolded” China, Europe, Israel, Russia, Canada, etc., and his wife has scolded the Grocery Manufacturers of America.

He’s really making the rounds. A reflection of his paternalism and elitism, I suppose.

And let’s not forget about our all-knowing President scolding the Supreme Court.

This is Vadim’s video. I met Vadim last August at a Town Hall for U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions. Vadim is from Romania and came to America LEGALLY, and is now a CITIZEN of the United States. He loves this country and cares about it’s future — like most of us.

Thanks to Vadim Anshelevich and all Tea Party folks. Keep up the good work! Don’t stop speaking. It’s our precious right.
