Obama Scolds… April 23, 2010

Posted by geoff in News.

The classic Obama pose:

Scolder In Chief

  • Obama scolds Wall St. for resisting reform (4/23/10)
  • Obama makes 15 recess appointments, scolds GOP (3/27/10)
  • Obama talks tough on security, scolds officials (1/5/10)
  • Obama scolds Rep. Cantor at summit for paper prop (2/25/10)
  • Obama scolds Cambridge police (7/23/09)
  • Obama scolds card issuers, and their silence speaks volumes (4/24/09)
  • Obama Scolds Holder’s “Nation of Cowards” Comments (3/28/09)
  • Obama Scolds Kenya (2/3/09)
  • Obama ScoldsChides Auto Makers in Fresh Blow (11/25/08)
  • Obama Scolds Comedian for Crude Jokes at Fund-Raiser(7/12/08)
  • Obama scolds absentee fathers (6/16/08)
  • Obama scolds South Africa over Zimbabwe crisis (6/24/08)
  • Obama scolds Bush on environment, energy proposals (4/4/06)

In addition, his administration has “scolded” China, Europe, Israel, Russia, Canada, etc., and his wife has scolded the Grocery Manufacturers of America.

He’s really making the rounds. A reflection of his paternalism and elitism, I suppose.

And let’s not forget about our all-knowing President scolding the Supreme Court.

Man, that’s not even an exhaustive list yet. A little googling brings up Obama scolding Fox News and Obama scolding the cynical opponents of climate change legislation. Then there’s all the scolding he did at COP15.

2. BrewFan - April 23, 2010

O/T (like that really matters around here), I’m going to the moron meetup in CT!

*does happy dance*

3. Michael - April 23, 2010

Great, Brew!

4. BrewFan - April 23, 2010

I’ll volunteer to hold Dave’s beer if he has to go near water.

5. geoff - April 23, 2010

Thanks for the pic, Michael – I was going to stick one in, but I ran out of time. And feel free to add to the list.- I was going to mention that people should bring links to other occasions of scolding.

I’m kind of tied up with a b-day party for my new 14-year old.

This is a very good post, Geoff.

The Blamer-in-Chief is really earning his rep.

8. Cathy - April 24, 2010

Kudos, Geoff.

I lost it when WE were PUT ON NOTICE after he came back from his foreign trip last summer (7/13/2009).

…Fresh from his foreign trip, Obama lost no time signaling his determination to prevail. “I just want to put everybody on notice, because there was a lot of chatter during the week that I was gone,” the president said. “Inaction is not an option.”

*Never heard a prez talk to us like that… ever.*

9. Cathy - April 24, 2010

*woo-hoo Brew!*

10. Dave in Texas - April 24, 2010

Bitch in Chief.

11. BrewFan - April 24, 2010

I know Cathy, I am so excited! When Mrs. Brewfan asked why I wanted to do this I told her I have ‘talked’ to, laughed with, cried with some of these morons for almost 7 years now. lauraw and I hung out at Allahpundit as far back as 2003 if my memory serves me correctly. Then I met Michael and Dave and most of the regular morons at Ace’s shortly thereafter. You all are family and its about time I got to give you all a hug. I hope Mr. and Mrs. Geezer give some thought to going too. And Sobek. And Skinbad. And Lipstick. And KC. And Pupster. And Mrs. Peel. And geoff. And EVERYBODY ELSE!

12. Dave in Texas - April 24, 2010

I’m going to feel up up.

You’ve been warned.

13. Michael - April 24, 2010

I’ll volunteer to hold Dave’s beer if he has to go near water.

I’ll buy you a beer if you just push him in the water instead.

In fact, you will be on my tab all night after that.

Ask him to ‘lend’ you his iPhone first. Those suckers are expensive and do not stand up well to a thorough soaking.

14. Michael - April 24, 2010

By the way, speaking of iPhones, thanks Dave for tipping me to the YouVersion Bible app. It is really cool. Feature rich, huge selection of reading plans, huge number of translations. I have it set for NASB, which is still kinda my all-time favorite for literal adherence to the original text.

Michael - April 24, 2010

lauraw and I hung out at Allahpundit as far back as 2003 if my memory serves me correctly.

Actually, I was there too, but mostly lurking, and then he quit. So there was this migration to AOSHQ.

15. Dave in Texas - April 24, 2010

yw. I use it all the time. Glad to hear a Luthern is actually interested in what the Bible says. These are good times!

16. Michael - April 24, 2010

Glad to hear a Luthern is actually interested in what the Bible says.

Well duh! Of course we are interested. The Bible was written by Lutherans.

17. Michael - April 24, 2010

Moses, for example, was obviously a Wisconsin Synod Lutheran.

Their theology tends to be kinda legalistic.

James was a Missouri Synod Lutheran.

I could go on about this . . .

18. Cathy - April 24, 2010

I’m thinking Barnabas was ELCA.

19. Michael - April 24, 2010

Luke was ELCA as well. He listened to wimmen, sorta like a Lutheran Dave in Texas.

20. Michael - April 24, 2010

John was a really really liberal Lutheran. He was mighty dang close to being an Episcopalian. That’s why he wrote all that lovey-dovey hippie stuff. Plus, he wrote that really freaked-out revelation. He was eating the mushrooms of Patmos, I think. Maybe doing a little toad-sucking as well.

21. Michael - April 24, 2010

One thing I like about Christianity is that it’s the only really funny religion.

All of our heroes, except for Jesus, are fatally flawed dorks. Moses, David, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Peter, Paul — buncha losers, and the Bible is brutally honest about this. They were all at least as fucked up as me.

Then, millions of us get together every week, and we hear the Word, which we think has magical power, and we eat and drink the body and blood of our God in an act of ritual cannibalism, which we also think has magical power.

Then, we turn and face the conventional religions of work-righteousness — the Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and so forth.

We look them right in the eye, and tell them that they are crazy.

You gotta admit, that’s comedy gold.

22. Dave in Texas - April 24, 2010

>> I’m thinking Barnabas was ELCA.

Paul considered Barnabas STFU until they later reconciled over John who was also called Mark.

23. Cathy - April 25, 2010

Um… Give my Barnabas an effin’ break, Dave-my-friend. It was Barnabas who helped assimilate that zealot-murdering Christian-hater-Jew-Saul-Paul fella in the first place. (Acts 9:26-29)

Sheesh. But I do agree with you. Barnabas and Paul did some head-butting about how to and with whom to do ministry.

As Michael says . Just goes to show how all us flawed folks formulate, fight, and fellowship together in the faith.

24. Dave in Texas - April 25, 2010

I think Paul and Barnabas were the first Baptist deacons in history. They set the gold standard for how the rest of them fuss alla time.
