OK, it’s called the SeaBreacher.

I suggest that we demand that Michael purchase one for the next IB festivities.

Wicked cool. I think everyone should get one for free from unspent stimulus funds. It’s only fair.

Good think Michael’s such a generous guy:

Price starts at US$ 65,000 for a standard J model, and the X model (which is the very high performance, heavily customized version) starts at US$ 81,000.

I think I can only afford one for me. I just had to pay for a new palm tree to replace one that froze last winter, a paint job in the garage which has looked like shit since we moved in, and new tile and plaster for the pool.

Maybe a second one that Cathy and Lipstick can share.

The pool job is a classic example of “project scope creep.” Two winters ago, a bunch of the pool tiles cracked during a hard freeze. The cracks were indiscernible until calcium started pushing through from the setting material behind them, causing ugly white lines. Experts told us that the tiles weren’t installed right, and the only solution was to wreck and replace them all.

Then we started talking. We have never been thrilled with a white plaster pool, which creates that 60s looking aqua color. We like the deep blue color you get with gray plaster, like we had in San Antonio. So, we figured, as long as they are going to drain the pool and make a big mess, let’s get some new plaster, along with a tile we like better. That decision about tripled the cost. I still think it’s a good idea. A darker plaster, aside from appearance, adds a few weeks to the swimming season in both the spring and fall.
