How are things in Your town?

1. Retired Geezer - October 25, 2011

Southern California looks kinda scary.
I can understand places like Chicago and Miami being on there but what’s up with SLC?

2. Michael - October 25, 2011

The gangs seem to be overlooking all the revenue opportunities in North Dakota.

3. Michael - October 25, 2011

what’s up with SLC?

I think the Salt Lake City FBI office reports the Lutherans as gangsters.

Frickin’ Mormons.

4. osoloco - October 25, 2011

WooHoo! We’re orange! Unfortunately, I have family members that are gang members. Third and fourth generation pachucos.

5. Michael - October 25, 2011

Third and fourth generation pachucos.

Ethnic gangs are a nearly inevitable byproduct of America being what it is — a rowdy, diverse and opportunistic society. We don’t have the cultural homogeneity that so many other places take for granted, and the assimilation and interbreeding process takes a few generations at least. Irish and Italian gangs have declined precisely because they are not “different” any more. They are just us.

The mystery to me is why the Indians don’t have gangs. WTF? All they do is take over 7-11 franchises and computer helpdesks. What is wrong with those people?

6. Tushar - October 25, 2011

Heh, Michael. We are the Gandhian gangstas – totally peaceful. Our biggest weapons are raised eyebrows and exasperated tones.

7. osoloco - October 25, 2011

Dot Indians. I was thinking feather until you clarified.

8. Tushar - October 25, 2011

Oso, it is a running joke here and at H2 to refer to me as a feather Indian. I am a dot Indian. Hence my avatard.

9. lauraw - October 25, 2011

Our biggest weapons are raised eyebrows and exasperated tones chili and curry farts.

10. Tushar - October 25, 2011

Farts in the general direction of CT

11. osoloco - October 25, 2011

Tushar, I’ve lurked for a very long time here and at AoSHQ. I remember you from way back. As the world’s whitest Mexican, I fear brown people. As a resident of NM, I know lots of feather Indians. They are all gay.

12. Tushar - October 25, 2011

Damn. Even the Messicans are afraid of me.

13. daveintexas - October 25, 2011

Best Hank Hill line ever, yelling to his wife Peg and honking the horn as they get ready to go to Dallas, “Doggone it Peg, get a move on. We’ve got to get there before the gangs wake up”

14. geoff - October 25, 2011

Damn. Even the Messicans are afraid of me.

Gives me an idea:

Hey! Is that Tushar guarding the border?

Nope. Chuck Testa.

15. Lipstick - October 25, 2011

Heh, Geoff. Chuck still hasn’t gotten old.

16. Retired Geezer - October 25, 2011

*geezer just figured out that means crazy bear*

“Somos Pocos pero Estamos LOCOS!”

17. osoloco - October 25, 2011

Chuck Testa never gets old. (Hi Geezer!)

18. skinbad - October 25, 2011

Salt Lake has Polynesian gang problems. Lots of Poly families move to Utah because they are Mormon. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stick for some of the kids. But Utah has more of a gang problem than New York and as much or more of a gang problem as Miami and the Arizona border? Seems fishy.

19. BrewFan - October 26, 2011

Sure skinny, we believe you.

20. OBF - October 26, 2011

Tushar – During my tenure in Toronto one red-neck western Canadian didn’t refer to y’all as dot indians but as “push starts” or “pull starts”. Am I going to burn in hell for repeating that?

21. Russ from Winterset - October 26, 2011

Polk County IA has a bigger gang presence than Kansas City MO?

There’s some gang concentration over on the KS side, but I’ve been to KC MO, and it’s got large areas that are best described as…. a shithole. Apparently, gang members do have standards.

Tushar’s new theme song: “Darn, it Feels Rather Invigorating to be a Gangsta”

22. Tushar - October 26, 2011

Push start vs pull start? That is hilarious!

Don’t push my button!

23. Retired Geezer - October 26, 2011

Push start vs pull start?

Apparently the Urban tongue has not penetrated the Hoodz of the Spud St8.

Explain pls.

24. Tushar - October 26, 2011

Geezer, if you see a dot on the forehead of an Indian, you push it to start. If you see a feather in the head, you pull it to start.

25. skinbad - October 26, 2011

I understood you pulled the turban, like starting a lawn mower. American Indians weren’t part of the equation. I think I heard this in Toronto as well. What were you doing there, OBF?

26. skinbad - October 26, 2011

San Francisco has exactly 10,000 gang members? There must be some sort of honey badger FBI agent over there. He just threw out a number–he doesn’t give a shit.

27. OBF - October 26, 2011

My family and I moved there in the late 80’s. I got to be a “landed imigrant” for a couple of years. I moved up with a real estate development company I worked for. Loved it! Toronto is the best city in North America, like New York without dirt and crime. (But no good mexican restaurants.)

…and you are correct…pull the turban or push the red dot.

28. sandy burger - October 27, 2011

San Francisco has exactly 10,000 gang members?

My county has exactly 11,879.

Uh, make that 11,878.
