This is a cooking post.  I cooked with this today.

You could cook a moose in here.  Maybe two mooses.

That magnolia tree died last year in the hear wave and it doesn’t know it’s dead yet.

So, ummm, when I asked the IB crowd what I should do with a Japanese exchange student, several people said, “take him to a shooting range.” Good advice, but I’m not a gun guy, so I kind of blew it off.

Funny – at lunch today he asked if we could take him to a shooting range. When I said we would try, he bowed his head with his hands clasped in prayerful thanks. So I’ll get to the point:

Is anybody in the Denver-Boulder area available to take this kid shooting in the next few days? I’ll pay, but I need somebody who knows what they’re doing to teach him (and my son, who once had a session with DinTX).

Pretty sure that his teacher only has to be one lesson ahead of him. Which means you and your son are qualified.

Sounds like fun!

Your kid knows enough to go to any range that has a range director.. call a few and tell them the situation. They will be more than happy to accomodate,

And don’t forget my suggestion about ink.

Call Cathy and/or Ellen. They have guns and ammunition, along with ear and eye protection. They both have lots of time. You have met them and have their numbers. I would start with Cathy. She lives in Parker and has a lot of ammo.

If you have a choice, have him start out with a .22 caliber then graduate to more powerful stuff.
Trust me on this.
I’m pretty good at teaching wimmins.

Flyin’ Brian’s wife did not like guns and was afraid of them.
Last week I took here out shooting and she loved it.
We left Brian and Mrs. G at home, to avoid distractions.
We worked slowly up in calibers until she shot my .45 1911.

She did the happy dance many times and when we were done, she said she wanted to get her own gun.

I started all my girls on a .22 long rifle just to get em used to the sound and stuff. Has no kick at all, just pops. Worked em up just like RG said. Both my kids can put a bad person down with their .38 revolvers.

It’s a very impressive cooker, Dave.
