Ms. Notafraid is just not in the same league as the average Nigerian fraudster. Amazingly, this email actually made it through my spam filter.

Ban Ki-Moon is the current Secretary General of the United Nations, which means this grant award must be legit. Anybody want to claim it on my behalf?
I got the same mail from Roxanne.. she has lots of money to dole out…
There really is a Roxanne Not Afraid in Montana. Must be legit.
My reply:
I’ll let you know if I get the pic.
Of course, I won’t actually see the pic. It will be infected with a virus.
You want me to give em your AMEX number?
I got it.
The internet won’t truly be complete until it’s possible to at least metaphorically reach through the wire and slap someone in the face.
No, not the phishers and the spammers – they should simply die in a fire of spontaneous human combustion.
I was thinking of the people bone-stupid enough to *credulously* respond to such things, thus perpetuating their existence.
Hilarious. What always gets me about these is the pervasive use of the UN as an organization that would offer grants to Americans and that ought to engender trust. Does the UN really play that big a role in these people’s lives, that they could conceive for a moment that this wouldn’t seem bizarre to an American?
I think phishers purposely make their attempts look stupid so that only the stupidest people actually respond. It’s kind of like a way to weed out the folks that will just waste their time without actually sending money.
