August ’13 Update on Obama’s Broken Promise to Manufacturing August 2, 2013

Since the employment data is out, it’s time to check Obama’s promise to add 1 million manufacturing jobs within 4 years. I got the lovely chart below from Organizing for America back in May 2012. I scanned it for posterity and then I added some attractive diamonds to show what has happened to manufacturing jobs since that promise.

As the diamonds show, he didn’t deliver much.

OFA Manufacturing Jobs Aug2013

The President has “produced” 65K manufacturing jobs since March 2012 (scare quotes because he doesn’t have any direct control over it). OFA’s chart says it should have been around 300K by now.

Promising America 1 million manufacturing jobs was rash and cruel, when he had neither the power nor the knowledge to make it happen. Hopefully sometime America will wake up and realize that he lied to get their votes, and he feels absolutely no responsibility or remorse for it.

Liberals are always bitching about the loss of manufacturing jobs. But then they specifically say that they want energy costs to be high, and pursue policy to ensure it. And just try to build a new factory in this country without some EPA reg or environmental group all up in your face.

Either they’re lying about wanting more manufacturing, or they believe it should magically happen in spite of their interference and kneecappings.

That’s mostly reading from a script of talking points. They don’t give a rat fuck about manufacturing jobs, and you’re right they certainly don’t understand how costs affect manufacturing. Living wages! No oil!

Fucking dipshits couldn’t pour piss out of a boot with the instructions on the heel.

[…] tracking President Obama’s progress toward his promises to double exports by 2015 and to add 1 million manufacturing jobs by July 2016. Needless to say, in both cases he’s well along the way toward miserable failures. But the […]
