The Atheist Vendetta Against the Judeo-Christian Tradition Continues February 19, 2014Posted by geoff in News.
The militant atheists are at it again:
Yeah, because having a Gideon Bible in the bedstand table had us tossing and turning all night.
Administrators at a hotel run by Iowa State University have given the boot to Bibles in their guest rooms after protest from a religious separatist group.
The push to remove the books began when a guest at the Hotel Memorial Union complained to Freedom From Religion Foundation about the “unwelcome religious propaganda in the bedside table,” according to a local NBC News affiliate.
“We’re delighted to see reason and the Constitution prevailing,” Annie Laurie Gaylor, the foundation’s co-president, told the Blaze. “We can all sleep easier knowing secularism is being honored at our public universities.”
I mean, one might make the case that public universities shouldn’t spend money on Bibles for guests. But the university didn’t buy these Bibles: they were a donation. The university didn’t advertise or promote them – they were just provided with the room like they are in virtually every hotel room in America.
This is another example of the rabid intolerance of Gaylor’s crowd. Pew Research estimates that nearly 80% of Americans identify as Christians, while 1.6% identify as atheists. But that 1.6% can’t coexist with the 80% (more, if you count non-Christian religions) – they won’t be happy until they live in a world where they never encounter religion. To bastardize the old Mencken quote:
Militant Atheism: the haunting fear that someone, somewhere is being exposed to Christianity.
