The CBO put up a set of slides today. A sad set of slides which describe the revenue and spending outlook for the US. Trigger Alert: You may want to cut yourself after viewing these.

Let’s start off with their overview chart:

CBOOverview

Graphically that looks like:

PredictedSpendingIncreases

So that sounds just great. A lot of money going into debt payments and senior/health services. Of course, that money must come from somewhere. And that somewhere can only be discretionary spending:

DiscretionarySpending

Yeah, that’s my buddy Defense Spending taking a nosedive there. You’d think that with these drastic cuts in discretionary spending that maybe the debt wouldn’t increase much. Hah! Fool!

FederalDebt

So that’s something to look forward to. Weak defense. Increased debt. But hey, at least with the cool new Obamacare health system we’ve insured all those poor uninsured people, right?

PeoplewithoutInsurance

OK, OK, maybe we didn’t get every single person, but at least we curbed federal spending on healthcare, yes?

FederalHealthSpending

Oof.
