President Obama Resolutely Continues to Not Double Exports November 10, 2014

Posted by geoff in News.

A couple more months until it’s official, but I think you can see where this train is headed:

Short recap: Back in his 2010 SotU address, the President told us that a key part of his economic recovery plan was to double exports within 5 years.

In 4 months his failure will be official, but in the meantime you can enjoy brain-bending puzzles every month, such as:

How can the President proclaim that his policies have worked when every one of them has failed to meet its metrics?

Is that like a Zen koan or something?

Obama’s policies are the sound of one mouth flapping.

If an employment rate gets unexpectedly revised downward in the forest, and no one is around to report it, does it make a sound?

I’d like to keep riffing on this, but I don’t know any more Zen koans, so…

A Zen master named Gisan asked a young student to bring him a pail of cold gold dubloons to cool his hot bath full of public moneys.
The student brought the dubloons and, after cooling the bath, threw to the beggars and taxpayers the little that was left over.
“You dunce!” the master scolded him. “Why didn’t you give the rest of the dubloons to the useful cronies? What right have you to waste even a drop of government gold on the useless fucks who earned it?”
The young student attained Zen in that instant. He changed his name to Tekisui, which means ‘corrupt motherfucker.’

I’ve been reading a few of these zen sayings and I gotta tell you, it sounds like an enormous pile of crap to me. It’s like if Deepak Chopra was a virus, and all these guys were infected.

The key to reading zen koans is to replace “zen” with “being in the zone.” Then they all make sense.

Then change “in the zone” to “in the swimsuit area”
