Export Growth Stalled Despite Obama’s Promise December 7, 2014

Friday’s release of import/export data leaves only 2 months away from President Obama breaking his promise. “Which promise” you ask, and well you might, because we’ve been tracking 3 of his promises for some time:
- To add 1 million manufacturing jobs between Sept ’12 and Sept ’16
- To put 1 million electric cars on the road by 2015
- To double exports between Jan ’10 and Jan ’15
I gave up tracking electric cars because the administration already folded on that one – sorry economy, that vital contribution of green jobs to your growth just ain’t happening.
Yesterday I updated the manufacturing jobs chart (but the scheduled post went to the cornfields!), where his promise continues to look like it’s doomed.
And today I present the exports chart, where his promise to save the economy by doubling exports is now only two months away from officially being broken:
If you go back to President Obama’s old speeches, you’ll find him telling us that increasing manufacturing jobs, exports, and green energy jobs were key elements of his economy recovery strategy.
Elements which he promptly abandoned as soon as the public eye was turned.
