Abstinence Until Marriage: It’s the New Liberal Way September 14, 2015

Jared Polis, who is, unfortunately, my representative, displayed his lack of appreciation for legal philosophy with his proposal that it didn’t matter if innocent men were punished for bogus accusations of rape – they should be promptly expelled regardless of the merits of the case. Thus, only an accuser’s word would be sufficient for expulsion, as all the accused would be presumed guilty without the need for evidence or trial.

Instapundit and Eugene Volokh have covered a lot of Polis’s idiocies from the legal and moral standpoint, so I’d like to take a step back and look at the big picture.

Which is to say that despite all their protestations, I have to believe that liberals are trying to exterminate sex on college campuses. The new rules, which make many comments and virtually every physical contact suspect, seem to have only one logical outcome: abstinence.

Yes, liberals are charging down the path towards “no sex before marriage,” because only after marriage can you be somewhat assured that both parties have consented to sexual congress, and that that consent will endure.

I know I wouldn’t have liked that result back in oat-sowing days, but if it’ll keep high schoolers out of trouble, maybe we ought to let libs go ahead and hang themselves.
