This Phrase “Power Through.” I Don’t Think it Means What You Think it Means September 12, 2016

After Hillary!’s collapse yesterday, her troops and fawning supporters have rallied around the raise “power through.” As in this Salon headline:

Hillary powers through pneumonia — because that’s what women do

Why is it surprising that the presidential candidate kept working even while ill? Women do it every day

But this is not “powering through.” This is hitting a wall:

That’s kind of the point – she didn’t “power through.” Not to mention, both men and women “power through” sickness all the time* – that’s not news. What’s news is somebody collapsing on the campaign trail, lying about the reason for the collapse, and apparently not feeling the need to seek much in the way of medical attention.

I’ll leave you with this old video of goats “powering through.”

*Unless, of course, it’s a man-cold, which is obviously exempt from criticism.

It was funny watching them flailing around until journolist got on the job and “powering through” came out on top.

I was rooting for that one.

I sure would like a list of the supposed half a dozen other staffers who also contracted pneumonia. Let’s just say I’m a bit skeptical.
