April 2017 Employment Report: There’s Much Uptickery Afoot May 6, 2017

I’m up in Gunnison, CO at the moment (attending my nephew’s graduation), so I’m running a little late with the monthly employment report posts. But it’s a quiet morning here, so I thought I’d bang one out real quick-like.

Only 156K jobs were added, which is ho-hum, but the number of part-timers dropped by 280K, suggesting that full-time employment is rising. Here’s your chart:

The uptick has sustained itself for another month. If it continues at this rate, we could back to normal in well under a year (you may recall that prior to Trump’s election, we were predicting a return to normal in 5 or 6 years).

If.

That is encouraging news. Hopefully it continues.

Sis/SiL sent me a Gunnison photo – you all looked great. Wish I was there.
