The whole time I was watching I was thinking, “Man, I wish Marvel had done this movie.”

Oh well.

Alien: Covenant was good, if you’re into that sort of thing.

I wanted to see Alien the other day, but my wife is out of town on business and she wants me to wait until she gets back. In a month. 😦

So I mentioned WW to my daughter and she wasn’t interested. Surprising because she’s kind of a DC nerd. She and I both have Batman as our favorite because of him not actually having super powers other than insanity and a pile of cash, but that’s pretty much the only DC comic I’m a fan of. She seems to like all of them, but for some reason she wasn’t interested in the movie. Girls are hard to understand sometimes.

She got me started on playing DOA5 this weekend instead. She let me beat the crap out of her on the free base version of the game, then as soon as I bought the full game she stopped sand bagging and took me to the woodshed.

So would WW be worth $5 to see? I can go to a matinee by myself for pretty cheap here.

I’d pay $5 to see it. Gal Gadot was physically awesome, and her acting wasn’t terrible (it was more a matter of what she didn’t do, acting chops-wise, rather than doing anything wrong). By “physically awesome” I mean you could buy into the whole Amazon warrior thing. And it should come as no surprise that a Miss Israel winner is easy on the eyes.

Chris Pine did a pretty good job, but his lines didn’t do him any favors.

The movie had a slow start and never picked up much speed. It really hit the war-is-awful theme hard. And repeatedly. And again and again. Made the movie drag a bit, even with a lot of action.

The ultimate villain was underwhelming – in fact, I wasn’t impressed with any of the villains. All I could think was that the director thinks any white male is scary enough to be a villain.

Typical liberal social digs, but that comes with every movie.

As much as I’ve criticized it, I’d still give it an A-/B+, where I gave Guardians of the Galaxy an A+.

I watched Alien without Mrs. S. She was not the least bit interested. I was pleasantly surprised at the matinee pricing, and the theater was pretty much empty.

I also recently watched 10 Cloverfield Lane. That was a seriously suspenseful flick. Way better than Cloverfield.

I hate going to crowded movies. We always go to the 2nd run theaters, it’s only $3 and the popcorn is cheaper.

The other night we went to see Celtic Wimmins. The guy behind us kept talking to his wife. I restrained myself from embarrassing him (and me) but it was truly annoying.
