Wow.

Cardinals are my favorites.

2. lauraw - November 20, 2017

Nice! I love his little feet wrapped around the perch.

3. Jimbro - November 20, 2017

Watching a cardinal in my yard is always a must do activity no matter what else is going on.

4. Retired Geezer - November 20, 2017

I’ve never seen a real live Cardinal. Blue Jays yeah but no Cardinals.
We have Starlings, Sparrows, Wrens and Flicker Woodpeckers around here. Also usually a couple of Red Tailed Hawks on the famous power poles and Sparrow Hawks (are they the same as Kestrels?)

5. Sobek - November 20, 2017

I think he looks like he’s full of regret.

6. Sobek - November 20, 2017

Kestrels are a kind of falcon, which is somehow different from a hawk.

7. bjn45 - November 20, 2017

Does he chirp the “Battle Hymn of the Republic”?

8. Sobek - November 20, 2017

I don’t know, but yes.

9. bjn45 - November 20, 2017

The quote in the upper left corner made me think so.

10. lauraw - November 20, 2017

Cardinals are lovely. Whenever you see one, look for the mate. He/she is around close by. The pairs are inseparable and always talking to each other, keeping tabs.
They are year round birds here, but of course far more noticeable against the snow in Winter. One of the few birds that seems to really enjoy the white safflower seeds in birdseed mix.

The quote is a line from a Pink Floyd song. It’s also the state motto of Kentucky. And the northern cardinal is the state bird of Kentucky. So by extension, Pink Floyd must be the official band of Kentucky. Surprising, but there you have it.

12. bjn45 - November 20, 2017

I believe it is also a quote from Abraham Lincoln on the eve of the late unpleasantness between the states.

13. skinbad - November 21, 2017

He’s looking askance at me. Askance, I tell ya.

14. Retired Geezer - November 21, 2017

If Sobek’s Cardinal had a black head, he could feed fish.

The lady that took the video says the Cardinal feeds her fish about 6 times per day.

15. Sobek - November 21, 2017

I’m feeling super disappointed with my cardinal, now.

*why you gotta embarrass me in front of my friends like that?*

16. Retired Geezer - November 22, 2017

I’m sorry.
Heck, you could just take a Sharpie and add some black to that bird’s head. Just like that Spanish lady fixed the painting of Jesus.

No big deal.
