June 2018 Exports Data August 28, 2018

I suddenly recalled that I hadn’t done the exports graph for the month, so here it is in all its belated glory:

Looks like they took a breather in June. The data for July should be out within 10 days; hopefully we’ll see a resurgence of growth.

Unless the Trump tariffs suppress it.

I’m not an economist, and I’m not in support of tariff wars.

HOWEVER

It appears that Trump is only increasing tariffs to match those of the countries already imposing tariffs on us, our trading partners, and he’s doing it at a time when the US economy is booming. Trump didn’t start the tariff imbalance, he’s responding to it.

The US economy can sustain China’s retaliation, but can China’s sketchy economy sustain a tariff war? Pressure’s on.

I’d like to hear your opinion.
