and furthermore.

(fyi, the title of this post is a reference to the fact that I wouldn’t have said a word if not for a certain individual’s unpleasant remarks last week.  Never let it be said that I am capable of rising above petty carping and oneupmanship.)

Seriously, does anyone with an IQ higher than a door stop fall for this crap?

Although, I suppose if someone had a sense of humor about themselves and said this crap for a gag, I might let them into my pants after half a dozen shots of Cuervo:

I’m gonna try Wanna know what winks and f*cks like a tiger? on my wife tonight.  GLAR.

How best to describe a simple harmonic movement?

Perhaps like this, as an engineer would?

Or perhaps this way, as a man’s man would?

Everyone familiar with the Haka? It’s a New Zealand Maori dance that can mean you’re getting prepared to go to war, but can mean other things as well. I believe steve underscore in underscore hb has mentioned he is a fan. It’s been in the news a little bit because college (and even some high school) football teams have been doing it pre and post-game to give themselves and their fans a psych up. It’s most famously used by New Zealand’s All Blacks rugby team before matches.

The Leader of the Band September 7, 2007

Dan Fogelberg was a big influence on my musical taste in the 70’s and 80’s.

DinT reminded me of Dan when he did the excellent satire of the Run for the Roses song.

That got me thinking about another song that I really liked, The Leader of the Band.

This was the first video I found and I think it’s very fitting. It’s a song about his father.

He earned his love through discipline– a thundering, velvet hand
His gentle means of sculpting souls took me years to understand

That, there’s some poetry, folks.

I sent LauraW an email a couple of days ago with a picture of a dragonfly on my finger.

The quality wasn’t very good because I took it with my cellphone.

Here’s a better photo that I took today. Michael, pay no attention to the weeds.

What? You can’t see it?

It’s right below the jump.

When Michael posted his pic of a certain “non-kitchen related” upgrade to the kitchen, I got curious.

And I saw it at Bed Bath and Beyond.

It was thirty bucks.

Allow me to let that sink in, while my hands feel absolutely marvelous here.

Three Hamiltons.  Or three rounds, as Burr might put it.

Yeah, you gotta watch where the wax goes, blah blah blah.

This is an investment in yourself.

And your husbands won’t even know what the hell is going on, so you won’t have to explain it.

You’re happy.  They’re happy.

Ah call it a win-win.
