Classical Law Gets No Respect May 30, 2024

After hearing of the ridiculous Trump verdict, where Western jurisprudence was sacrificed for the sake of Democrat political ambitions, I remain amazed that they had to go to such lengths to convict a man who was a major construction mogul in NYC. I mean, I doubt that this snippet from a Rodney Dangerfield classic is far off the mark:
With all of the graft and kickbacks that must have been going on, an accounting infraction is what they had to go with?
Sure seems like a serious judge would have bent over backwards to make sure that the verdict was ironclad – with no hints of impropriety or unfairness to the ex-President. The fact that Merchan did so many ridiculous things indicates that he never took it seriously from the get go.
Really underscores how political the whole thing was. All these lawfare suits seem pretty coordinated in their efforts to bleed him financially, suppress his allies, keep him from campaigning, and besmirch his candidacy.
Corrupt payoff beneficiaries are bound to stay quiet to not incriminate themselves. They had to make shit up and put the spurned and already ruined attention whores on the stand to get the drama and juice they thought they needed. The whole thing is flimsy, won’t stand up to appeal, and smells worse than Brandon’s boxers at the end of the day.
