Lately, it seems to me like the IB/H2 family has been obsessing about children, mostly because of a couple of recent arrivals.

So, I wondered, what does a crocodile god and all around tough guy like Sobek look like as a child? I did some research, and struck gold.

Behold:

Public Safety Announcement.

Everybody should have a way to boil water or cook food if your power is off.

Mrs. Geezer and I bought one of these, it works great. We cooked a meal with a handful of sticks.

Bud the Neighbor could have built one for us or we could have made our own out of a few tin cans but the price was right. We bought ours from StockStorage.com for $135, including shipping.

They have a few different models including a Stainless Steel one. I’m thinking about getting another one so we can use two burners at the same time.

YouTube has a bunch of videos on how to make your own.

I was cleaning out some drawers last week, and I came across a piece of note paper I wrote on a few years ago, shortly before the very first IB Super Bowl Party/Shooting Spree.  It took me a little while to remember the significance of the list, but today it all came back to me.

Yeah, I know.  Wiser-youknowwho is going to run on & on & on with this topic.

I’m OK with that.

The Pogues make great drinking music.  Dental care music?  Not so much.

This will probably be one of the hardest things I will ever write, let alone post on the internet for the world to see.  But it’s something I think is important.  Not just to me.  Or to my wife.  Or my therapist, or the parole officer, or the nice gentleman who sells tamales in the Wal-Mart parking lot.  I think it is important for anyone who has ever struggled with something, thinking they were alone, not realizing that there’s help out there.

The Top 50 Richest Members of Congress August 20, 2011

Roll Call just released the net assets for the top 50 members of Congress. I decided to take a look at how it breaks down by party:

31 Republicans and 19 Democrats in the top 50. I think the takeaway for this graph is twofold:

1) The Dems can’t claim a particularly close relationship with the working man, and

2) Don’t feel too sorry for those stubby little guys at the far right – the lowest net worth on the chart is $6 million.

Politics is most definitely a rich man’s game.

Obama Tries to Make Job Creation Molehills Into Mountains August 20, 2011

Our “the buck stops here” President explains why the buck doesn’t stop anywhere close to his office:

In remarks recorded on Wednesday on his campaign-style bus tour in Illinois and aired during his holiday in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, Obama said the stalled construction, trade and payroll tax bills could give a boost to the economy.

“The only thing preventing us from passing these bills is the refusal by some in Congress to put country ahead of party. That’s the problem right now. That’s what’s holding this country back,” the president said in his weekly radio address, which is also transmitted on the Internet.

Let’s see now – are those bills really that simple, and are they really what’s holding this country back?

Talk About Damaging the Brand: the Value of American Citizenship Just Plummeted August 18, 2011

Oh Boy: Obama Orders End to Deportation of Illegal Aliens

So now the only advantage that a citizen of the US has over anyone else from anywhere else in the world, who shows up in the US anytime they want to, is that we won’t be deported if we commit a crime.

Thanks for thinking of us, Mr. President!
